Alienare – Au Clair de la Lune

Alienare is a North German duo comprised of vocalist and mastermind T. Green and keyboardist T. Imo, who joined in 2016. Their 2019 album NEVERLAND reached number 93 in the official German charts. “Au Clair de la Lune” is a special release outside of their regular catalog. It takes the well-known French folk song and places it into an entirely different context.

The source material is familiar to anyone with a passing knowledge of French folk tradition. What Alienare do with it is strip away any of that familiarity and drive it straight toward the dancefloor. The sound design leans into late 90s and early 2000s futurepop stylings — digital, sterile, and precise in a way that suits the genre perfectly. The energy is immediate and the track is easily danceable from the first bar.

This is the kind of release that demonstrates range without losing identity. Alienare take something unexpected and make it sound like it was always theirs.

A “We Come in Peace” tour is scheduled for 2027. Based on this, the live show will be worth seeing.
