The Spoiled – When It Rains LP
Italian post-punk act The Spoiled arrive with their debut full-length on Avant! Records, and When It Rains wastes no time establishing its mood. Thirteen tracks of melancholic, reverb-soaked guitar work built around themes of intimacy, longing, and human sorrow.
Giovanni Santolla leads with a sound that blends distorted synths and electronic beats into something warmer than the band’s earlier work without losing the darkness. The album’s emotional core is its romantic intensity.
The title track is the clear standout. The music video, described as a harrowing look at shared painful moments, matches the song’s weight. “Watch Me Bleed” is the other track that stays with you, dark and brooding with detuned synths that give it a haunting quality. “L’addio,” “Not My Cure,” and “Crush” round out the highlights on an album that holds together well across its full runtime.
