Mondträume – Mind Games (Deluxe Edition)

Mondträume is a Spanish synthpop project founded in 2010 by producer Pikotto VondMond, releasing on Alfa Matrix. “Mind Games” is the project’s third full-length album and arrives after a significant lineup evolution. Following the departure of longtime vocalist Damasius Venys in 2022 and a period of collaboration and experimentation, Pikotto found his new creative partner in Nicky Schulschenk of N-Frequency, whose expressive voice now serves as the guiding thread through the Mondträume sound.

The album is a 24-track deluxe edition spread across two discs. The first disc delivers the core album, a collection of pulsating synth lines, melancholic melodies, and futurepop hooks that sit comfortably in the tradition of De/Vision, Covenant, and B! Machine, and others. The second disc expands into collaborative territory, featuring work with District 13, Neon Space Men, Color Theory, and Antilav alongside remixes from Code 64, Final Selection, Rob Dust, and Beyond Border among others.

Listening to “Mind Games” is like walking into a time capsule. The synthpop nostalgia of the 90s and early 2000s is present throughout, and the album wears that influence without apology. Standout tracks include “Heart Machine,” “Pictures of You,” and “Poisoned Love,” all of which showcase the chemistry between Pikotto’s production instincts and Nicky’s vocal presence.
