Ductape – Obscure

Ductape is a Turkish post-punk duo from Ankara. Çağla Güleray handles vocals and synthesizer; Furkan Güleray handles guitar, bass, and drum programming. Formed in 2019, they have spent the years since building a sound rooted in 80s post-punk and darkwave with lyrics in both English and Turkish. Four albums and two EPs in, they have earned a committed international following and a tour schedule that now spans Europe and Latin America.

“Obscure” is the third and final single from their upcoming album “Faded Flowers,” due September 18th, and it may be the strongest of the three. The song opens with a restrained tension and then the guitars arrive around the thirty second mark. That moment lands every time. It is the kind of entry that makes you stop what you are doing.

Çağla’s vocal performance is what holds the song together. Cold, almost sad, entirely controlled. The delivery gives the track its post-punk spine without ever pushing into melodrama. The lyrics move through bitterness, betrayal, and cycles of collapse with a directness that suits the production perfectly.

“Faded Flowers” is shaping up to be a significant record. If “Obscure” is the ceiling of the singles, the album has a high bar to clear. Based on everything Ductape has been building toward, that seems like exactly the kind of pressure they are ready for.
