DEAD LIGHTS – LASH
DEAD LIGHTSis an international duo consisting of Saul Pettett and Richard van Kruysdijk, based between the UK and the Netherlands. Founded in 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic, the pair were forced to work remotely from the start, producing music, videos, and artwork entirely at a distance. Their debut album and early EPs were released on Cold Transmission Music. In early 2023 they signed with darkTunes Music Group and released “Glitterspit,” their second album. “LASH” is their third, out May 15, 2026 on vinyl, CD, and digital.
The live presence has grown steadily alongside the recorded output. Their premiere was at Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig in 2022, followed by shows across Germany and the Netherlands, a UK tour in late 2023, and festival appearances including Resistanz, Castle Party, and others.
“LASH” has been building for a while. Previously released singles “Take,” “The Algorithm,” and “Grind” laid the groundwork, and all three appear here alongside new material. “The Human Touch” is one of those new tracks, and it is a strong entry point into the record.
It opens with a driving bassline that anchors the song immediately. The tone is digital and fairly sterile, but it works in context, and the clinical quality suits the lyrical framing of disconnection and approximated intimacy. The vocals are a highlight throughout, and the chorus is genuinely memorable. Lyrically the track circles around isolation and the inadequacy of artificial connection: the figure of a perfect but hollow lover, desire without presence. It does not overreach and is better for it.
The album carries the same energy across its runtime. DEAD LIGHTS operate in the intersection of EBM, dark electro, and industrial dance, with enough punk instinct to keep things from feeling overly polished. Additional new tracks “Never Take Me Alive” and “The Dream Membrane” suggest the duo had more than enough material to make “LASH” feel complete rather than padded.
A strong third record from a project that has been building steadily and shows no sign of slowing down.
