Vioflesh – Sweet Poison

Vioflesh is a darkwave project out of Santiago. “Sweet Poison” is a departure from some of their harder club-driven material, arriving as a slow-burning ballad that builds gradually rather than driving forward from the opening bar.

Haunting, slightly detuned pads open the track and establish the mood immediately. The construction is patient. Vio’s vocals are, as always, enthralling, sitting above the soft synths and hypnotic textures with a breathless quality that suits the song’s sensual and melancholic tone.

The concept is love as something beautiful and destructive in equal measure. Tender and lethal. The production earns that framing without overselling it.

The song is well crafted and we enjoy it quite a bit. It does feel though like a track that would find its fullest expression within a complete album rather than as a standalone single. The foundation is strong. The context would make it stronger.
