Glass Spells Announce Hiatus
Glass Spells, the Los Angeles dark synthpop duo of Tania Cassette and Anthony Spells, announced on January 9th that they are going on a break.
The announcement, posted to their social media channels, was direct and warm in equal measure. “After a lot of reflection and with heavy hearts, we’ve decided to go on a break,” the pair wrote, citing a need to reconnect with creativity, joy, and purpose. “As artists, growth and change are inevitable. Sometimes that means stepping back.”
Both members will be pursuing their own creative paths going forward. Anthony Spells continues his work with Twin RitualTwin Ritual, a project he has been running for years alongside Glass Spells. Tania Cassette will embark on a solo career, with releases expected in 2026.
The break is not framed as a permanent end. The band left the door open for occasional pop-up shows and closed their statement with characteristic affection for their fanbase, known as The Coven: “This isn’t goodbye forever, it’s an ‘I’ll see you later.’”
Glass Spells built a committed following through emotionally resonant dark synthpop and an energetic live presence. Their catalog remains available and both members are worth following as their individual work develops.
